gROUP cLASSES

Fencers are invited to move to this level by the coaches invitation.  These classes meet three times week for two hours each:  Private lessons are included in the packages per detail below.  They are organized during class times or outside of class times, based on the fencers’ schedules. 

Competitive Youth Foil and Competitive Youth Epee:  Mondays/Wednesdays/Fridays 4:45-6:45pm

Advanced Competitive Foil and Epee: Mondays/Tuesdays/Thursdays 6:45-8:45pm

Local/Regional/National competitive schedule is organized with the coaches for each fencer.  Competing is part of this program! Here is a link to the competition page

Open Fencing is held on Saturday mornings from 10:00 to noon on non-competitive days.

cOSTS iNVOLVED

1. Vivo Annual Club Membership of $300 – due at registration. 

2. Monthly group classes using automatic payments charged at the beginning of each active month (September – June.)

  • Competitive Youth is $515/month for group classes and including one private lessons/week

  • Advanced Competitive is $765/month for group lessons and including 2 private lessons/week

3. ADDITIONAL OPTIONAL 1-1 private lessons.  If desired, Youth competitive fencers can set up additional private lessons to charge automatically at the end of each month. Please talk to the coaches to set this up.

Silver - one additional private lesson/week. $200/month add on

Gold - two additional private lessons/week $400/month add on

Advanced Competitive fencers can add additional lessons by talking to the coaches to arrange.

 

TOURNAMENT COACHING:

Vivo Fencing Club members receive for strip coaching selected multi-club local tournaments (within 50 miles of the Club), at a rate of $30/event/fencer, subject to Coach’s availability. There must be a minimum of five Vivo fencers at a local/regional. We will ask you to pay the coaches directly. 

For regional and national tournaments requiring travel, (e.g., Junior Olympics, NACs, SYC’s RYC’s RJCC’s etc.) A $60 per event/per fencer fee will be charged for coaching.  In addition, all club members participating in that tournament will be charged a pro-rated fee for coaches’ travel, per diem and accommodations.  All coaching fees are paid just after tournament travel. We will do our best to send you an estimate prior. Generally, there must be six fencers going to a regional or national competition for the coach to travel. 

Competitive Program 10-month Commitment

These membership levels require a 10-month financial and fencing commitment. Health issues that mean that the fencer cannot participate are the only reasons to break the commitment. Please speak to us in person if such occur. Occasional breaks are not accepted. Your commitment allows our coaches to commit to your fencers. You will be asked to sign this agreement when you register.

USA Fencing Association membership is REQUIRED.  renew directly please.

Put in the name and then select ALL MEMBERS (vs. ACTIVE MEMBERS)

When you name comes up – note the membership number.  And you will see when your membership expires – if it is 2023 – you are OK – just make sure that the status is what you want:

Competitive. – for regional/national competitions and qualifiers.   ALL competitive fencers must have competitive membership.
THEN go to:

https://member.usafencing.org/  and sign in.  If you don’t have your password – put in your membership number and hit FORGOT PASSWORD.  A pop up box will come up – fill out the info and they will send you a new password.

THEN you can sign in and renew/upgrade your membership. 

For Youth participating in local competitions - you can sign up for ACCESS MEMBERSHIP $29 for August – July.   

For all others participating in Regional/National competitions, renew your COMPETITIVE MEMBERSHIP for $99 August - July.

JUMP ROPE AND SHOES

We’d like all of the fencers to come with a jump rope in their bag. You can choose which one!

PLUS Indoor court shoes. They are the BEST for fencing and mean that everyone’s feet are protected and ready for their best fencing moves. We prefer WHITE with stripes vs. dark colors, if possible. Here are some examples:

ASICS Upcourt 4 Grade School /Men/Ladies Volleyball Shoes

ASICS Upcourt 5 Grade School /Men/Ladies Yolleyball Shoes

ASICS Gel Rocket 9 or 10 are also good.

Equipment PACKAGES 

Full kits are required for all competitive fencers.  Two weapons and two body cords (minimum) are required for multi-club competitions.  Order through the club coaches please.
